JM SYNTH BIT is the more abrasive sibling of JM SYNTH GAZE: an experimental noise-rock patch for Fender Jazzmaster and BOSS GT-1000CORE. It keeps a Turbo OD and Twin Combo core, but chooses metallic, broken-up movement over a large reverb field.
It does not behave like a standard distorted guitar sound. A picked note quickly fragments into dense sidebands and moving phase texture. It is especially effective for single-note riffs, unstable arpeggios, noise layers, and repeating parts that need a distinct electronic edge.
What changed from JM SYNTH GAZE
JM SYNTH GAZE uses overtone content and ambience to create width. JM SYNTH BIT instead puts a ring modulator completely in front of the dry signal, adds a full-wet phaser, and leaves reverb off. The patch presents the altered sound itself rather than hiding it in a big wash.

How it sounds
Low strings can resemble a rough, driven oscillator more than a conventional guitar. On the upper strings, the attack becomes cold and glassy. Chords do not stay conventionally clean, but they remain a moving harmonic mass rather than collapsing into a flat fuzz blanket.
Starting points for adjustment
- To retain more pitch definition, raise FX 1 Direct Mix slightly first.
- For more instability, raise FX 1 Frequency and FX 2 Depth gradually.
- If riffs become indistinct, reduce MASTER DELAY Effect Level before changing the core gain.
- If the sound is too sharp in a mix, lower the Turbo OD tone or high EQ a little before reducing the ring-mod level.
